Hainan has released a list of the first batch of single-use non-degradable plastic products that will be banned in the province.

The single-use non-degradable plastic products will be banned from production, sale, and use starting December 1st, 2020.

The list includes products such as disposable plastic bags made from polythene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), disposable plastic tableware made from polystyrene (PS), drink bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and disposable packing bags and films made from ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA).

The list was made in accordance with a regulation Hainan has issued to ban single-use non-degradable plastic products for the purpose of promoting the development of a national ecological civilization pilot zone and for strengthening the prevention and control of plastic waste pollution.
